"Step up to a better life."
Did you know?
- One in five persons will suffer from some form of mental illness within any given six-month period.
- Almost all of these people will respond positively to treatment.
- Research is ongoing, and new and improved medications, treatments and support systems are being developed all the time.
- Peer support is an important component in many consumers’ lives.
- Step-Up is consumer run and dedicated to empowerment.
Our Mission
We strive to empower mental health consumers through peer support; we can help consumers understand, accept and heal from their respective illnesses.
What We Do
The Drop-In Center is designed so that the consumer will experience socialization and activities. Through movies, crafts, computers, presentations and group discussions, consumers receive the positive peer support they need to remain healthy. Drop-In Centers exist throughout Pennsylvania, in almost every community!
Why We Offer These Programs
It is important to improve educational and social skills so that consumers will be able to fully participate in the community. Returning to the community is the major goal for many consumers, and Drop-In Centers offer support and encouragement in a non-threatening environment.
To become a member of Step-Up, you must be at least 18 years old and either a current or previous consumer of mental health services.
